Will I need a Tummy Tuck?

Recommended Posts

I'm 26 years old a lot of people are saying that I'm young enough and my skin will tone up just fine, however my lower stomach is what bothers me the most right now, I'm guessing I need to lose about 70-100 lbs but i'm not sure that this lower tummy is going to go away without the TT. What do you guys think?

It just depends...everyone is different. A lot of factors go into it: How long you have been heavy, how fast you gained the weight, how much weight you loose, how fast you loose it, etc..

You will only know when you get close to your goal. Age does seem to be a factor but there is no clear answer for you. You either will or will not.

I am wondering the same thing! I am 29 years old and I also have a large stomach area.

I was told age is not really a factor. I saw 4 doctors people for I picked my plastic surgeon and they all told me the same thing... if you lose more than 50 lbs more than likely the skin will not go back to "normal" and will be have to removed surgically.

I had 16 lbs of skin removed from my tummy and 8 lbs removed from my chest. it was the best thing I ever did (after getting my lapband).

I was banded at age 39.. a month before my 40th birthday and had my Tummy Tuck at age 41.

I started with a 54" waist and am now a 30" waist.

I recommend you see more than one doctor and don't be afraid to ask to speak to patients that they have done surgery on. My doctor was more than happy to put me in contact with references.

Tom, Toronto

Banded July 6 06

Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
