I am being banded on May 3. I have to stop smoking. Why is it everyone tells me take it one day at a time. When I wake up and start to think about what I have to do that day I am STRESSED before my day starts and I want to grab a smoke!. How about we think about one hour at a time! It is working for me. I have been 24 hours and NOT smoked at all. I am not trying to take it a day at a time, just one hour at a time works for me! :) .

as long as you do what works for you, that is what matters...I have never smoked but I have heard stopping is brutal..my words of hang in there and stay positive most likely mean nothing but its true and from my heart....hang in there. you are way way stronger than those cigs

Oh honey I feel for you. I also quit. It will not be as hard as you think. Get an e-cig if it gets tough, no nicotine is the goal and they make some with zero. fruit juice and lots and lots and lots of Water helped me. I will tell you, it feels great to be slimmer and smell great all day too!

Thank you for your understanding! One hour at a time is how I am looking at it

Quitting absolutely sucks. I quit smoking 2 years ago and I think the biggest reason I never started again is I don't want to go through the hell of quitting again. It's brutal.

For me, even one hour at a time was too optimistic in the beginning. Honest to God, I had to focus on one minute at a time just so I didn't go ballistic on a random stranger. One minute I was mad as hell, the next I was crying like my best friend had been taken away, then the next I'd start rationalizing all the reasons I "deserved" a smoke. Thankfully...in the end... all the reasons I HAD to quit smoking won the internal battle.

I also used e-cigs to quit. It really helped because I still got that hand-to-mouth satisfaction and the taste. It really helped take the edge off a lot.

Hang in there, you can do this!!!

Try not to fall back on stress as the reason why you smoke. It's all about the addiction to nicotine. You'd want that smoke stress or no stress. It's tough, painful, but so worth it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
