May 16! On day 4 of pre-op diet. I have had a headache everyday, bad taste in my mouth, and gurgling tummy! It will be worth it. I told hubby "I can do anything for a week!"

Hi everyone! It has been one week today since my surgery. To date, I have lost a total of 31 pounds, and that feels great! My surgeon keeps me on a liquid diet until I seem him which is May 21st. I am getting tired of Boost shakes, and am looking for some good Soup to buy that is "fat free" or "heart healthy". AND, how do you put Protein into that? Thoughts are welcome!

OH, and I forgot to say good luck to those of you about to get your surgery, it's really not bad...you just have to have patience with yourself, and take time to WALK and REST.

I'm pretty sure you can buy unflavoured powder protein and mix it right into your soup.

My surgery is May 30. I had the edk and my surgeon found a hernia (he said when he bands me he will tack it down) I'm starting my post op tomorrow (he said I could start early to help myself). I live in Arkansas. Very excited and nervous. One of my four sisters doesn't support me getting banded so I told her I won't discuss it with her. NO NEGATIVE is allowed in my life for now on. One sister won't talk to me ( been years), one sister is excited for me and the other sister I didn't discuss it with her. They all live out of state away from me. I have no family around. I'm using this site for my support and my husband for my support.

thanks for the replies to my question!! It's good to hear that this hasn't been a problem for you guys.

I can't believe tomorrow is the big day... Getting nervous but also ready to do this.

As I have to stay in a hotel for the night' date=' is there anything anyone can think of that I should bring from home that I wouldn't find in a hotel? Aside from the usual stuff one travels with, I plan on bringing my blender for ice chips, a couple of extra pillows... I will just be allowed clear fluids, so will have that covered... I hope I'm not missing anything important![/quote']

I know I have said it before but take a pillow for the car ride. I held mine over my stomach and rested my arms on it. It felt great! Plus made sure my stomach didn't move around and cause pain

It's a great idea to keep negative people away! Sorry that you don't have any family to support you. This site is great for support! Ask any questions that you have. There are tons of very experienced and nice people on this site who love to help! Good luck!!

I have been watching TV the whole afternoon because today is my last "vacation day" before to come back to work tomorrow and I can not count how many food commercials I have seen!!!! I'm so happy that I'm not hungry at all with the band but media did affect me a lot before with all theirs cheese, double crust, etc commercials LOL, so my tip of the day for you pre-ops out there: do not watch TV!

Did your doctor prescribe you anti nausea medicine? If he did, have that ready! Any sudden moves or curves and your stomach will do flip flops. Best of luck to you and anyone else get banded tomorrow! I'll be honest, the first few days of recovery are rough. But like everyone says, it definitely gets better. Now that I'm on mushy foods I'm starving in between meals. I'll take that as a good sign I'm healing well. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
