Getting my band re-positioned next friday

Recommended Posts

Hey so I can't find my last post and I did say my band slipped, my surgery is next Friday and it almost feels like I'm getting the surgery all over again. Anyways, since I am going to be having surgery again, I was thinking that it would be best to start over. Do the pre-op diet then the liquid stage, mushie stage then solids. Then I just hope it goes the right way this time, and be smarter

Hi Erin,

I think you are right in starting everything over again. I was a huge food lover and binge eater going into this as my last tool of resort because I was so tired of the rollercoaster thing I had done my whole life. I am now looking at this as a completely NEW way of living healthy and I will succeed. I was scared of how I would over rule my head into telling myself that I wasn't really hungry at all and just thought I was. I had to go two days without anything to eat or drink because of some mix up with radiology hours and not being able to have my Esophogram when I should have. I "THOUGHT" I was starving and even got really pissy with the nurses over it. Come to find out, it was all in my head. When they brought me my first "so called" meal. I ate some of the Jello, drank some apple juice and that was it for me. I sipped on ice Water until lunch and I was fine. food and over eating ( I am finding) really is a head thing and how we have been taught or allowed ourselves to act throughout life up until this point.

You can do this and do it correctly....and in the end, you will look in the mirror and say.....I DID THIS AND IT FEELS GREAT!!!! Good luck on your second time around.....just keep your eye on the prize which is a thinner and healthier you!!!! You'll do great!!!

I agree with your mindset. Starting fresh and at the beginning is best.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
