I was banded on the 26th of March, 2013. I had horrible gas pain for the f5 days but other than that I felt. I had my post op on April 1st and she said everything looked awesome and to start eating but to concentrate on Protein, no carbs. That seemed a little soon but she's the doctor. So some things go down great but others not so much. The following day April 2 I woke up feeling really crappy and in pain. Lots of Pain in the centre of my chest and in my left rib cage under my armpit closer to my back. I took an liquigel and got my first stuck experience (omg). If I walk more than 5 minutes my back starts really aching. If I lie on my back I can barely breathe. My port incision hurts this week and I feel cold all the time. I wake up feeling nauseous which i never did before. Week 1 besides the gas pain was awesome and I genuinely felt good and was even going to go back to work after 2 weeks instead of the 3 weeks I booked off. Week 2 has been horrible. I was thinking about going back on a liquid diet to see if it helps. Perhaps get some pain killers, see if they have some dissolveable or liquid stuff. Alot of my swelling is down so I'm wondering if it just makes it where I feel everything a lot more. Did anyone experience this? Any advice? God I hope week 3 is better.

I would call my Dr. the type of pain you are describing doesn't sound normal.. I had pain from gas the first week after my surgery.. I took liquid tylenol and used a heating pad but yours sounds like something other than gas. It's better to call and find out then sit around and perhaps get worse.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
