I was banded April 2nd, have nothing in my band right now. Right after surgery they took me down to do a barium swallow and it showed the liquid was just slowly trickling through. Now I'm at home and every tiny sip I take its followed by a gurgling noise and a burp. Has anyone else experienced this? It's almost impossible to get liquids in! And it huuuurts.

hurts most likely and hard to swallow because you are super swollen. continue to sip as much as you can so not to get dehydrated..this is vital... HOWEVER, if you find you cant get much liquid in, let your doctor know so they can advise you..

From what I understand, they don't fill the band, but they do put a small amount of saline in initially. Not really enough for restriction, but they do put some. I agree that you may be very swollen, but your doctor is the best place to go when you're having issues.

I was banded 12 days ago, and though there isn't much pain associated with drinking (unless I take too big a sip or too many sips), I do get the gurgling. I'm wondering if this is going to be the new me; sound effects when I drink :-)

When I haven't eaten for a while and have a very empty stomach, I get gurgling when I drink liquids. It's very strange and it used to annoy me but it doesn't anymore. It actually tells me it has been a little too long since I have had food. That being said, you are very new to the band and on a restricted diet, just follow the rules and think of the gurgling as your body's way of saying, "Hey, you are losing weight as I gurgle!!" Good luck and just take it slow!

I got my band on Feb 19 and it gurgles at me too. If I drink a little too much or to big of a gulp I will get "feedback." It sometimes gurgles to say "FEED ME!" if I have gone more than 3 hours between meals. I giggle to myself when I hear it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
