Has anyone started their pre op liquid diets? I start April 15th. Looking for good tasting Protein Shakes with low carbs. The ones I've recently tried had around 23-29 carbs. Is that actually BAD or GOOD?

i used (and still drink one each morning) whey extreme Protein (in chocolate) from Walmart. 28 grams protein per scoop.....its delish and only 14.95 per container..my dr approved it..it helps to find one you really like. i tried them all and some were just nasty. congrats on your surgery BTW.

smoothie king Gladiator Protein Powder is no day no carbs, doesn't taste as good as muscle milk but of course it doesn't, cuz muscle milk contains fat and sugar. Zero carb Isopure is great too, although extremely expensive and chalky tasting. You won't mind the taste of chocolate gladiator stirred with a glass of Water or blended with some berries

Btw- 23-29 grams carbs isn't that bad, so as long as you're not adding milk or fruit to it- so finish what you've got of that powder and then switch to smoothie king gladiator. You'll be glad you did! The lower the carbs, the more weight you'll lose

This is great...shopping forprotein shakes in not something I'm used to. I have a ton of them left over from nutrisystem...I showed them to the nut and she said to go for it. so I'm going to use those up but I also bought some from costco that my nut asked me to buy. The day I went there they were taste testing them and I loved them. Premade in case I sleep in or something. Good luck all...

I used the same pre-op! And will continue to use now that I'm post-op! You can add a tablespoon of Peanut Butter and almond milk for extra protein and its delicious!!! Though I haven't picked any up yet there is a peanut powder PB2 that people rave about bc it's got all the protein/taste of Peanut Butter without fat and less calories!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
