Sorry in advance about this question.

Everything I drink other then Water - goes right thru me.

I have had laproscopic surgery before, and this happens as your stomach is not used to the food when you start taking in anything of substance, but I am talking about sips of juice. (orange tangerine, 2g of sugar)

I just seem to have this loose BM that won't stop.

Any ideas? Suggestions??

You are still on liquids, right? I would guess that's the reason....loose stuff in - loose stuff out.

Once you graduate to solid food it should stop. Or, if you can have (skim) milk, that tends to bind you up. About 16 oz a day gives you a good dose of Protein and will also help stop those frequent trips to the loo.

You might try Benefiber as well... my doc was ok with it during liquid, but check with yours. I find that it helps both bulk it up & get it out, heh. It's a win-win for me!

MelAnne, I was the same way for about a week or so. It went away. Of course I was also only drinking liquids so naturally, everything went through me.

I think most people go through this - I know I did too. I agree with JanetC - add a little Fiber, if your doctor OK's it. It helps the diarrhea AND bowel movements. I don't really know how it can do both, but it does. Here's another one - fiber helps when you have the flu or even if you've drunk yourself into vomitting. I think it just gives your stomach something to 'grip' onto. Just a guess.

At the risk of punning: this too shall pass.

Hi

No band yet but as a nurse I can tell you that not having any solid foods going in will most likely not produce a BM. Also surgery in general can produce same kind of symptoms due to anesthesia, antibiotics, and stress on the body. On the hand pain meds can constipate. Check withyour doc about the Benefiber or some other type of fiber. Best of luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
