I just came out of the woods a couple of days ago. Days 1 through 7 were torture. So much gas pain and bloating. Day 8 was so so and days 9 and 10 have been awesome. 100% pain free starting day 9. It happened all of the sudden for me, no gradual recovery.

I didn't have a BM until I started mushies, which I believe was day 7 (against doctor's orders). I couldn't take liquids anymore. I started eating tuna salad and egg salad well chewed and very slowly. I'm pretty convinced a large part of my problem though was the Protein shakes. The milk seemed to cause me to have a violent gassy reaction that only seemed to escape through an occasional burp. Possibly just coincidence?

Hang in there. If you are like me, your energy will come back with a vengeance and you will be so glad you got the band.

Today is better. I think I'm having more gas issues than I realized. I just thought I felt full...nope, its gas. I'm ready to get more calories in me, I'm really looking forward to some soup! I have really low energy, which is not cool with a 3 and 6 year old~ but we are getting through it.

Follow up appointment tomorrow. What were ya'll eating/drinking for the first two weeks? I'm supposed to do Clear Liquids (broth, propel, 3 Optifast shakes, water) for the first week. Second week introduces runny oatmeal (which I won't eat...not doing grains at all) and runny yogurt and blended Soups. Is this fairly standard? Then week three starts mushies.

Hang in there it does get so much better even if it doesn't feel like it right now.

I remember being very emotional after being banded and cried a lot and sometimes for no reason, so I thought, but I was also of the mentality, OMG what have I done to myself, I'm never going to be able to eat again! Not true!

I'm nearly nine months banded, so close to losing 100 pounds and I have not felt deprived of anything. The only difference now is I've lost a lot of interest in food ( greenzone) but if there is something I crave I have a small amount and I'm done. To be honest all the things I used to love no longer taste as good as I though it did.

The beginning is really hard emotionally, just take it a day at a time and you will do fine.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
