Slow go....

Recommended Posts

At 9 months post I have lost 52 lbs. I am really glad that I hit wonderland, and here the but...... once I got under that 200 mark it seems that weight loss has nearly stopped. I finally saw below 200 right before Chirstmas. The lowest scale number I have seen is 191.

The reason I say the lowest is my weight is like a bouncing ball. Even though I weigh at the same time of day each day, there are still major fluctuations. Last Sat, Sun and Mon were all 191 weights. Since then I have bounced with in the 192 and 193 zone and then this morning 194 OMG. Okay, so I know I didn't gain that much over night, so I am not to freaked. I know yesterday that I didn't drink enough Water and I haven't pottied in a couple days.

I just feel like my weight has come to a stall even though I do tend to average about a 2-3 lbs loss a month. However, at this rate it will take me 17-18 months to reach goal.

I know I am being a winey butt, I just so want to make it to the 140's. While my doc says I am doing great, I just wonder is there anything I can do to kick my weight loss back up. Or should I just keep doing what I am doing and let the weight come off as it will?

Advice please.....

I burn around 2200-2300 calories a day

Eat around 1600-1800 per doctors orders

Steps average around 8000 a day

Good morning, are you working out ? even walking helps speed up weight loss a lot , I hate the scale ,I am not banded yet but when I am losing weight I know the scale fluctuates a lot day to day, Water retention TOM so many things can make us gain.

The proper amount of Protein and drinking my Water are important for me! Maybe reduce your calorie intake a couple of days per week, that also helps. Your doing great! Even if it took 17-18 months to reach your goal that isn't unreasonable! Remember the day you looked at your surgeon and said you realized that the lap-band is not a "quick fix"! Your doing great, embrace it and enjoy the ride!!!!

Honestly, the lower the scale goes the more reluctant it is go down. You're doing everything your doctor recommends and you're burning more calories than you consume. The weight WILL come off it's just going to take some patience.

A good example- when I weighed 400 pounds the weight literally just melted off. Like, crazy fast. Now that I'm inching towards onderland? Dear Lord I fight tooth and nail for every stink'n pound! Right now I'm about ready to toss my scale into the lake because instead of going down the pound I'm trying to lose, the dumb thing went up 1/2 a pound. Like you, I know I'm doing everything right and it's just natural body fluctuations, but jeez it's so frustrating.

Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing and you WILL get there :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
