Yup, banded on 1/7 and currently stalled for two weeks. Totally normal according to my past experience and my Dr. Review that you are following the rules and be patient.

Are you exercising? If not start. If you are for how long and how many days a week? My doctor wants min. 30 minutes 7 days a week.

A 2 week plateau is nothing. A 2 month plateau may be something to get excited about but it's very normal to go a month without losing. Especially if you exercise a lot. If you exercise you're replacing fat tissue with muscle tissue. So, you are losing weight, but the weight you lose is fat.

We all lose a lot of excess retained fluids the first 6 weeks. After that it's mostly fat. New bandsters get accustomed to losing so much weight and think it's going to continue. HA! Not a chance.

I went 3.5 months without losing and I know it's frustrating, but until you get some fills that help you eat even less and you exercise, you may not lose much and may even gain.

BTW-Please fill in your profile so we know more about you and can advise you better?

So there is nothing I can do at all???

Sure there is, but plateaus happen. Use the time to make sure you are still doing everything right, Portion Control, food logging, counting calories, moderate exercise, talk to your NUT. Then, if you find an area you need to correct, correct it. If not start looking at other measures of success like are you losing inches. For me, I haven't moved the scale for two weeks, but my pants are looser.

Believe me, I know it is frustrating. I am at the 250 mark, I have been here one other time on WW, and my body just doesn't go below this weight without a fight. You can force it, by extreme exercise or extremely restricting your calories, but those aren't long term answers. If you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, then the weight will come off eventually.

I'm not banded yet but like I stall at 210 no matter what I do. Did you stall there when you were doing you supervised program?

I am 8 months post op and there were weeks when I stalled. When that happened I would make and effort to get more protien in and excersise and that usually got me back on track. Good luck.

I'm glad you said this because I am frustrated as well. I've only lost 38 since surgery in December and I've actually gained 2 lbs. I'm glad to know this is normal. I do know that this isn't a race and that it is going to take some time. I ordered Billy Blanks P24-7 workout DVDs. They are all thirty minutes long. I'm going to start using that for my workout regimen. Hopefully it will give me a boost. I had even thought about doing liquids again but it's horrible trying to get the full feeling with just drinking.

Here's a great video that confirms why our weight loss slows down around month 2.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
