Barb, Dr. Aguila in Tampa is great. He's right across from Memorial Hospital in Hyde Park. The office staff is so kind and helpful.

I'm starting my 2 weeks of opt fast tomorrow, then surgery on June 13th. Wish me luck!

I'm in Bradenton. I was banded yesterday by Dr. Gary bunch. I have yet to go to a support meeting' date=' well I did go to one at the Dr office. but I was the only one who showed up :(. They haven't had any support group meetings since the October one I went to.[/quote']

How's it going! I will be banded by dr bunch on July 18. He said he's starting a support group back up soon. Did you have any complications? I'm so nervous.

Don't be nervous. You can completely trust Dr. Bunch. He is a great surgeon. Where are you being banded. I did mine at Blake because I work there. I had very little pain after the procedure, and I have had no issues as of yet. I am losing weight as I am supposed to, I have had 2 fills, 2cc the first, and only .5cc the last because I lost 5 lb in 2 weeks. I am going Thursday for another fill, I hope he will give me one, I am down another 3 lb in 2 weeks. I lost a lot of weight about 13 lb on preop diet, Then about 10 lb the first month. I am down about 40 )

I'm having my surgery done at gulf coast surgery center as an outpatient. I'm self pay and it's cheaper to do it that way. I've heard mixed reviews about dr bunch but so far he has been very professional to deal with. As long as he's a good surgeon I'm happy!

Hello St. Pete./Tampa/Bradenton Ladies!

I've been hoping to find a support group in this area. I live in Clearwater. I was banded by Dr. Gonsalvo at Palms of Pasadena. I went to several of the support group sessions at Palms, but most of the people weren't close to my age. I hope to be a Senior Citizen one of these days, but it was hard for me to relate to their schedules. :) Has anyone found a support group in this area they enjoy?

Hi, I'm from Bradenton, too. Dr. Bunch did my surgery at Blake on June 14th. I had a very easy experience and was doing well until I got to the hungry/eat solid food stage! I'm having a hard time eating right. Dr. Bunch-ers: I don't really feel like I have clear guidelines on what I should be eating now, calorie limit, etc. Do you?

I was supposed to go in for a fill tomorrow, but I had to reschedule for next week.

I was also told that the support group would be starting back up again. I'm really looking forward to that.

Pam

I'm only six days post-op so I can't help with food stuff. Everyone on here says to aim for 60-80 grams of Protein. Don't eat more than a cup of food at a time and eat your Protein first. What did you eat on the mushy stage? I had some cream of Tomato Soup tonight and it was a wonderful change of pace. Dr bunch did my surgery too. I go back on aug 6. Looking forward to the support group as well.

I used a Nutribullet and blended lots of food. Staples were: applesauce with unflavored Protein powder, refried Beans, hummus, cream of wheat, yogurts and cottage cheese. Campbell's makes some awesome Soups - I think they're "kettle style". I liked the tomato bisque (I think that's what it's called) and the mushroom (I blended that one). Oooh, also, mashed potatoes.

Hi Ashley2369. 125lbs is awesome!!! I hope to get to those results. I live in Tampa and was just banded on Aug 15. I'm only down about 17lbs (did that in the first 2 weeks) and am feeling a little frustrated. Unfortunately I don't know of any local support groups, my only support has been this website. I'm so thankful I found it. Ps. I love Ellenton outlets. Lol

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I got on here. I've been struggling in a major way and have been stuck at the same weight for awhile now. I think I've finally got things going in the right direction. Last Thursday, I went to a support group at Dr Bunch's office. They meet every 3rd Thursday of the month.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
