Good Luck with your insurance approval. Hopefully you'll be a bandster before you know it. And by the way..........57 is not old, just experienced. :Banane56:

Welcome to LBT Free-to-be. Good luck with your insurance approval! UHC seems to be one of the carriers with more approvals, so you have that going in your favor. Lurk away - the more info you have the better you will feel about your decision. :(

:welcome: Welcome to LBT!! You are on an exciting journey and I'm glad to hear you decided on the band. It's a personal decision that is not appropriate for everyone. This is a great resource for the band and other issues. I just got approval yesterday and can relate to your emotions of waiting. It is truly the hardest part, at least so far, IMO.

Be sure to check out the "Search" link on the top of your screen. Also, check out the Insurance and LapBand FAQ's forums. You will find tons of info that can help you along your journey. I'm not so sure I would have been approved without some of the knowledge I learned here. I felt armed and ready for the insurance game. Hopefully, you will have a smooth approval.

Take care and keep in touch with us to let us know how your progressing!!

Hi Free to Be,

Be encouraged! UHC is one of the best insurances to have when considering the lap band procedure. They will usually give approval based on bmi and a doctor's recommendation. In my case, they have even granted me an "in network" provision for my doctor (there isn't a network surgeon in my area that does the procedure). Anyway, this means that they will have to pay the surgeon the $8000 he bills, not UHC's contracted rate of $3860. That is pretty impressive for an insurance company since most of them are worried about the bottom line.

I hope this helps alleviate your stress some. My doctor was glad when I told him I was UHC.

Good luck,

Linda

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
