So I was banded about a month and half ago. I had thought I didn't have any Fluid in my band so after a few days on the liquid diets I went rogue. Horrible horrible idea, I know. Needless to say I felt like crap emotionally and still kinda do. Here I am paying for everything out of pocket and can't seem to satisfy my urges. I finally started to eat better before my fill and when I went in I had lost 10 pounds. Now it's almost time for another fill (3 weeks) and I've only lost 5 pounds. Today I have decided that I will become more strict and do the required Protein Shakes and add in Fiber. But I can't deny that I'm still depressed. I have continued to eat improper things, some without harm. I'm extremely worried that I have slipped my band. But I don't have any of the signs. Thoughts? Comments? Btw how do you post a before picture?!

Has anyone thought of over eaters anymoums?

The only way you can know if your band slipped is by having your doctor check it. You wouldn't necessarily have symptoms.

I would strongly suggest going to see your nutritionist so they can help you get back on track and establish food guidelines you can live with. I would also discuss your issues with your surgeon. It's imperative you get your eating habits under control with the band before you do hurt yourself. Your surgeon and nutritionist can help you do that.

Best wishes.

After my first fill, (4cc's) I gained weight within that month before my 2nd fill........felt like a failure and the Dr. would be upset...turns out he laughed at me....asked me what did I expect??

He then took the time to fully explain the reasons for the fills, what the Green Zone is, and until the band is properly adjusted it will be nothing more than my own will power....(bandster hell)

Which we both knew I did not have...if I did I wouldn't be in his office in the first place, having failed so many times at so many diets.....I needed WLS to do what I could not do.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
