How do you eat sushi?

Recommended Posts

I love sushi, but am not sure how to eat it now that I am banded (not yet filled however). Do you cut it up into little pieces or take it apart to eat it? It seems so bad to destroy a work of art!

I just take small bits off a roll. Be careful of the seaweed that is hard to chew & can get stuck.

Enjoy!

i made hubby fresh tuna just tonight..i used a super sharp knife and made slices as thin as i could..i used a wee bit of mayo mixed with lemon juice that he drizzled over it with (he always adds hot sauce, texas pete)..(if not sharp knife, small cubes work well)

but that is not what you asked...cut into wee pieces, baby bites as aj said

I love sushi but can not eat the rice or seaweed with out difficulty. If you like tuna steaks here is an excellent recipe:

Sriracha Tuna Steaks

1 tuna steak

1/2 cup Sriracha sauce

toast black sesame seeds

1 tbs olive oil

Soak tuna in sharchi sauce and than roll in toasted sesame seeds. Heat olive oil in pan, place tuna steak in hot pan and braise 1-2 min on each side. Thinly slice and serve with some stir fried oriental veggies. I use onions, shredded carrots green onions, red, green and yellow peppers with small pieces of broccoli flowerets. Season lightly with low sodium soy sauce. I eat about 1/2 cup veggies with about 3ozs of thinly sliced tuna steak. If you like raw tuna and spicy this is awesome. If you can eat rice, serve the tuna over about 1/8 to 1/4 cup rice and cut the veggies down to about 1/8 to 1/4 cup.

This sounds marvelous.

It is Terry, my son bought me a Sriracha cookbook for christmas because I love that rooster hot sauce and I have made several things from it and they have all been awesome. I also made an excellent Sriracha lentil Soup and some Edemame Dumplings that were to die for. I may have a small stomach and only eat small amounts but I love to cook and find new ways to get my Protein.< /p>

when i go out i ask for the role minus the rice. the seaweed doesn't bother me. I also get it cut in half- 8 pieces instead of 4. its stays in together and yummy

Yum I love sushi and have it at least once a week, sometimes I buy it other times I make my own. I just take very small bites and chew well, have got stuck once or twice but it was my own fault for taking to big a bite, now I cut it up very small as I eat.

Terry that recipe sounds delicious, hopefully I can get that hot sauce here and I'm going to make it over the weekend.

I don't have trouble with it 9/10 times but I get vegetarian sushi. (Don't like fish or seafood)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
