How do I know how much is too much???

Recommended Posts

I had my second fill today - my doc does not use flouro. Apparently I'm one of his "difficult" patients that he has a hard time filling. I have to lay down on a pillow with a Dallas phone book under it for him to try and find my port. Then he sticks me several times and today he even asked the nurse for a different size needle! Anyway, after my first fill I was able to drink a whole cup of Water with no problem. This was 3 wks ago. As of the first part of this week, I was able to eat a hamburger with no problem, so I decided to get another fill. After the torture of today's fill, I drank a sip of water and felt restriction. They said "Great, see you in a month" and I was on my way. Now I've been trying to drink some juice and keep feeling like I need to burp, and have pressure in my throat. I've never PB'd so I don't know how that feels, but I don't like the way I am right now. I was wondering if I would feel better if I tried hot liquids. I don't want to go back to the doc for an unfill unless I absolutely have to. It takes 3 hours of time away from work, not to mention the discomfort. I need to know if most people feel this way right after a fill, and if I will do better in a few days, or if you think I may need to go back. My doc's going to be out of town for the next 2 wks, so I'll have to see him tomorrow if I'm going to. - Thanks!!

Tara

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
