3 days Post Op Observations

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I slept in my own pajamas, in my own bed last night, with my puppy sleeping on the non sore part of my lap! Feeling much better than I was.

I think I've really lucked out so far, no vomiting, no dry heaves. The worst I've dealt with is the post op gas that's slowly dissipating through my body, and oddly enough it's given me a few accidents.

How are you guys all doing?

I'm four days post-op. I feel pretty good! From time to time, I feel a little tenderness in the port area. But, I really can't complain about anything. I miss my puppies. I have two dogs that are currently in a kennel, 8 year old Huey and 2 year old Chica. I really want to bring them home now. But, Chica is very hyper and I'm afraid of her jumping. I'm trying to wait, at least until tomorrow or Monday. It's hard. It's so quiet here....

You will feel better and better each day! I am a little over 2 weeks post op and I am feeling back to normal. Port site isn't sore anymore...gas went away.....and eating "mushy food".

I am so glad you all are feeling good!

I was banded Thursday morning (2/21) and I am already feeling 100% better. Still really have no desire to eat at all. I have eaten twice, sugar-free pudding with a few spoons of Protein powder mixed in. Other than that it has been Water or apple juice. I am thinking today I will have some broth & maybe some Protein pudding again.

I could not sleep at all Thursday night from the pain & discomfort. Did take a nice walk yesterday & last night I slept great. I am ready to get out of the house today.

I had a lot of trouble sleeping while I was in the hospital, just couldn't get comfortable. All the body gas would just sneak up on me lol but walking helped with that a lot

I was banded on Thursday and feel much better this morning than yesterday. I also slept much better last night! I washed myself up this morning and I get to shower tomorrow, looking forward to that! I am so ready for these gas pains to work their way through me as they are the only thing causing me discomfort. I have been walking lots and stretching, so hopefully soon! I am glad everyone is doing well!

I plan to pick up Huey and Chica tomorrow. I know Huey will be gentle. I'm hoping Chica will follow his lead.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
