Recommended Posts

I got my lapband 5 weeks ago tomorrow. I've been back to real food I think way to early! This last week I find I've been eating way to much!! It's all been healthy choices but I'm scared I have already ruined this and stretched my band!! I go for my first fill march 5th. Have I ruined my band already!? I have this lump about my big incision I thought it was the port but sometimes it's above some times it's below it. Someone please help!!

being able to eat more is totally normal. you dont have any Fluid in your band yet. call your doc if youre nervous, but you should be OK. good luck!

You need to measure your portion sizes to be sure not to eat too much. Eating too large of a portion over time can stretch one's pouch.

What were your post op instructions for meals and portion sizes? Be certain to follow those instructions...compliance providesmpeace of mind.

Best wishes for a successful journey...

See I measure my food but am still hungry after so I eat more then I should. It's been 5 weeks and I am losing, I've lost 22 pounds. I'm just worried that ill mess my band up before I even get my first fill! I have to drive 3 hrs to get my fill and had a 4hr flight to get to the surgeon who did my surgery. So it's not like I can get that support to make sure everything's ok!

It stinks but you need to stop eating once your allotted food us gone! That's why this is a will power diet at the start.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
