Is anyone finding they are exhausted after exercising?

Recommended Posts

I've been going to the gym everyday for a week now but I'm totally exhausted afterwards. I try not to have a nap but I feel like I can't function. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds normal to me and I dont even have my band yet! Lol

Just make sure you have plenty of Water while working out and be sure to eat a good Protein rich meal when you have cooled off. The more calories you burn the more you need to consume. You still want a calorie deficit so that you can lose weight, but not so much that your body thinks you are trying to starve it.

You could also try turning down your workout just a notch. You shouldnt be so exhausted that you want to pass out. I know the temptation is that if we work out harder than its better for us (or we can not feel bad about that extra bite of cake...) but if you work out too hard (ie. Before your body is ready for that intensity) you can end up injuring yourself or even just getting discouraged.

And if all else fails - I would take a nap! Not immediately after working out, but an hour or two after I have finished if I am still tired. I actually started doing my workouts in the evenings so that I could go straight to the shower and then on to bed. And since I struggle with insomnia sometimes its helped me go to sleep easier.

Good luck and take care of yourself!

It's weird for me, sometimes I fee in exhausted and sometimes I feel really energized. Usually if I'm tired a cool shower helps wake me

Are you just starting your gym routine? Because maybe once you get used to it you'll stop feeling so exhausted

Yep started a week ago but I thought it would have started getting easier by noe

I think you'll feel better in another few weeks of routinely exercising

It's only been a week so your body hasn't had time to get used to your new activity regime. Keep it up and your body will adjust. Just be sure you don't go too hard and burn out with your great level of enthusiasm. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

cheers

If you are running a severe calorie deficit like most bandsters, that this may contribute to it. I am doing spin classes that tend to burn between 4-500 calories a session, when I am only eating 1300, that is quite a lot. On spin days, I start hydrating an hour before with electrolytes and right after, class I take a GU energy gel. While this combo costs me 200 calories, I feel much better and I am definitely clearer after exercise. Your car won't run without gas, why would your body?

I guess I figured my body would use my fat as fuel seeing as there's a heap of it. I might try eating or drinking something after my workout to see if this helps. Thx for your advice

I always finish my workouts with a "Recovery Shake"...fortunatley my health club has a juice bar that makes different varieties from scratch....(also my Breakfast because I start my workouts between 5-6 am)

Remember your body of refers to burn carbs (easier). Plus your brain really really only wants carbs.

And it will long term, but the carbs and Proteins that you have just eaten, are easier for your body to access than the fat stores. Think of it this way, when you are eating something it is easier to grab something out of the fridge and eat rather than going downstairs to the pantry and getting food from there. Plus fat is not the only thing you need, and you don't want it breaking down your muscles to get Protein.

Yes, it is important to remember your body will break down muscle to get the Protein if desperate enough. That is why anorexics have heart attacks!

Yes and no. I feel energized when I exercise. But I also want to have a nap. The more exercise you are getting, the more muscle you are working to build, the more your body is going to need from you. Get more Protein (bars, skim milk, Greek yogurt) and more Water.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
