What have I done to myself?

I sit here feeling sick asking myself why did I have this surgery. I am regretting it and just want it out. It is only five days but they already had to take fluid out of me because I am too swollen. It must get better.

It's not easy in the beginning but as all the others have said, IT DOES GET EASIER. Recovering from any surgery has a physical and emotional toll. You are going through that and a major lifestyle and lifelong change in habits you have had for years. For me the physical recovery was easy but changing my emotional relationship with food was difficult.

I am not a perfect bandster but I try to stick to the guidelines most of the time. In doing so, I am down 75 lbs in 7 months. I could've never done that on my own before. Not eating junk for so long I don't really crave it anymore.

Long story short, this is a huge life change. The first weeks can be trying physically and emotionally. You will get out of it what you put in to it. Try to keep a positive attitude and know that you have a large support system here and we have all been there, survived and are thriving.

<-- Just realized your my band sister (same date) LOL

Hang in there, it will get better. First few days or week is rough. No regrets here despite the rough start I had. Best decision I ever made.

I spent day 5 in the ER certain something was horribly wrong... After all the tests, nothing at all was wrong.

I've had a complicated history with the band, but I can say that I would do it again.

One of my favorite sayings: Nobody said it would be easy, but it will definitely be worth it!

I must have been lucky my band was put in empty and I healed well first fill at 6 weeks these 6 weeks were hard as always hungry as no fill but. Now 11 months out and 107 pound down from band placement. Also had 3 fills 7cc in 14 band Hang in there it's so worth it x

Do or do not... there is no try!

I have to say...all of your posts are so positive. I am scheduled for the band March 18th, and I am scared out of my mind. Mostly cause I do not want to ever say "what did I do to myself? I hope all goes smoothly for me and I am so looking forward to looking better and feeling good about myself.

Awesome!!! You are doing awesome too, btw!!

Oh, you are doing super fantastic! You are going to be at goal in nooo time! (hugs)

I hope so. That will be interesting. I'm actually really hungry now. Swelling must be going down.

I had the same thoughts. I think as people we always second guess our decisions. Remember your reasons for having surgery and move forward. It does get better. I'm just starting my journey but I've already got rid of 1 medication and 19 lbs. I feel better already. You will too!
