questions about restriction and *overfilling*

Recommended Posts

Hi :-) I mainly post on a different site-but am pretty desperate for imput and hope to broaden my search-hope you'll indulge me :-) I was banded 2 years ago-get fills and feel some restriction for a couple weeks then lose the feeling (NOT the saline- no leak) I'm filled to 4.25 cc in the smaller band with NO restriction-honest< I can eat anything in preband portions and never pb anymore...my surgeon has checked it and says it looks tight enough under fluro...but I believe food just goes right through ...my fill doc (different man) is willing to add more but has no reason for my feeling no restriction-the only thing I can think of is a weak place in the tubing that is bulging, keeping the saline from moving equally around the band-checking that out means a trip to Mexico-again- to have barium injected instead of saline..which I'll do when I can -BUT if you have had a similar problem or lack of restriction with plenty of saline I really love to hear your story-thanks so much!!

is there any chance your stomach pouched above your band, that happened to me i could eat anything.... had to have band replaced...it sounds really strange that there is no leak.... they check each time?? pull out the same amount they put in the time before?/ i wonder if there is a pouch in the tube leading to the band, like a bubble in your car tire.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
