Need some cocktail ideas

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am young and social and so a lot of going out means times spent at bars. I know alcohol is full of empty calories and all that. I know carbonation is out of the picture and I'd like some cocktail ideas to be able to drink if I go out other than alcohol on the rocks, wine or cranberry vodka. Hopefully nothing too fancy because a lot of these places are more like sports bars than fancy places so something reasonable. Any ideas?

Hi Danielle,

A lot of places now are serving "Skinny Girl" drinks. I heard their Margaritas are awesome. Also, look whats on the shelf at the clubs/bars depending on where you go. Some clubs carry "Light' rum,. Oh, you can also check if they carry 'diet cranberry juice' too!

I know it sounds lame but I drink vodka (one of the lowest cal spirits) and Water with lots of ice and LOTS fresh squeezed lime or lemon. It is low cal and band friendly no high cal juice or carbonation.....

That's funny...I was just having the conversation with my boyfriend. I asked him if vodka cut with Water instead of club soda with lime would be bad? It's basically the same flavor sans the bubbles. I will try it - do you think the bartender will look at me strange?

Who cares! I used to drink vodka, lime and soda when I was always dieting......... and some friends in CA do it and I thought I would give it a go. In some weird way I think it hydrates you while you drink a win win :) You just need lots of lime wedges but it is lovely with orange too....

I have thought long and hard about this. I am not a lush but do like to have a cocktail now and again. Martinis (appletinis etc so many flavors!), Black Russians and Bloody Mary's will be on my "to try" list.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
