Moving port

Recommended Posts

I am 10 months post op and have lost 70lbs. I have been Gavin problems with my port being sore and sometimes hurting. Last time I saw my surgeon they said it could be from working out and still healing, that was about 6 months ago. Well I went back yesterday to see my surgeon again since I can't wear regular paints, bend over to pick something up, or even carry my daughter without it hurting. So he is going to go in and move my port upwards a little bd see if that helps, no promises that it will make it stop hurting. I am very pleased with the lapband and has help me change my lifestyle for the better. Has anyone ever had to have their port moved also?? Thanks

Several people have their port repositioned because it has flipped. I am not aware of anyone who had it moved because the location caused pain. Good luck to you with the new surgery and recovery. I hope it helps.

Because I no longer have any belly fat...mine sticks out like a golf ball right under my skin...Dr asked me if I get any "alien" jokes at the gym....

Anyway it does not bother me...as I was loosing weight I would get a sharp stitch type pain....my Dr said it is sewn to the muscular wall, and as I loose weight and my abbs tighten, that would be expected....

My last visit he said he can move it for me if I liked....more around the side where it is less conspicuous...I said I'll think about it...but they can move it.....

I had surgery on Wednesday. The surgeon moved my port to my right side and down lower. The surgery was minor. I did end up having to be admitted but it was due to my blood pressure and pulse dropping extremely low. I would've gone back to work today if the dr had released me. I have 4 new incisions but very little pain. I haven't needed to take any pain medications since I was discharged yesterday. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions and good luck!

Im actually having similar symptoms. I am 2 months out, down 33 lbs. The sharp pain I first noticed was I was sitting on my couch attempted to get up and felt like someone stabbed me in my side. Lately I'm sore bending over, trying to tie my shoes, sometimes when I sleep. I asked my doctor and he advised I was still healing and to take things easy and not rush into any extraneous activities. Im just wondering if this is normal at this stage. I was banded 1/8/13. Other than this soreness in my side the procedure has been wonderful. I don't have any other complications that I've been seeing on the forums or any horror story.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
