The world of solid food is scary...

Recommended Posts

I have been doing great through different stages and haven't had to deal with trigger foods. Tonight while making dinner for the kids I heated them up some taquitos, and they smelled so go. So I tried one, then another, then two more. About that time Misstress Band spoke up and said STOP (Did I mention that with my fill last night, Mistress Band has leather whip to go with her high heels) and I did, I was satiated.

So what is the problem, I didn't over eat, I logged my calories, Mistress Band is happy, so why am I so upset. The reason? I did not eat what I had planned, I didn't eat because I wanted to, I ate them because I was compelled to. I need to think about this....

Terry, I say move on. You always do awesome. I have had a couple of moments like that too, but always counted them and then reflect and understand where it came from! I sometimes think the triggers will never totally go away.

I think you're being way too tough on yourself. You stayed within your calories and you stopped when Mistress Band spoke. That is a huge success.

Life isn't neat and tidy all the time and you can't always plan your meals. And so what if you were compelled? You had to eat dinner one way or another, so does it really matter why you decided to forgo your planned dinner for taquitos?

You're doing great! Now stop second guessing yourself ;)

Thanks guys, I have just had such great control since the surgery and like most of the people here, I am terrified of failure. :(

BTW, I do love the control that Mistress Band gave me

I also agree move on... as long as you kept track of it and jumped back on the "band wagon" for the next meal then your ok.

When I was losing I planned all my meals (and still do for the most part). I spend Sunday cooking for the week and portion my meals out into portions. On Fridays I always go out for dinner with friends. I even did that when I started solid food.

Just take it one day at a time and if one day/meal doesn't go as planned try not to get stressed out about it... just get back on track at your next meal.

eating (is not bad)...eating is good and when making good food choices, even better. so you ate something. if you feel you dont do (good) one meal, do better the next. i found by knocking my head on my desk at work when my co-worker todd keeps messing up does not make it any better, only gives me a head ache.......so i will be a copy cat....some times you just gotta go oh well and move on..

Guys, if I seem to have been over reacting, don't read too much into it.

Dipping my toe back into the solid food realm, to be bushwhacked so soon is something that I need to consider. Yes, Mistress Band kept me in line, and for that I am grateful. And no I haven't give up hope and binged :) But now that I am back in the solid food realm, all of the cravings and bad eating habits are coming back, screaming "YOU CAN EAT ME NOW" unless I am aware, then I will get bushwhacked again.

Introspection is helpful upon occasion :D

Don' t be too hard on yourself...it seems as though you were able to recognize the trigger. Best of luck.

I agree regarding the struggle of solid food. I have only had one fill and am thinking I need another. Crunchy/salty foods have been tormenting me. I find I have been grazing or sneaking BLT's or bites, licks and tastes... It's scary..for me the fear that I might fail at this is very real.

Don't base your need for a fill on your food choices. You need to base it on how long you stay satisfied eating dense Protein. That will help keep the chips way. You need to eat the right foods to see where you are. Otherwise you will be too tight and screwed.

Thanks for the reply. I am still very new at this:). It is my head that is getting me in trouble. :)

2 years out and it is still the battles within my head that I am fighting! :)

Well, I figured out what to do. I chose to have taquitos for lunch today. No more being bushwhacked, I am allowing myself a little of the old food now and there. I had a couple of hot dogs for lunch yesterday. Funny thing is, I used to love those things and all I could think of while eating them was, why am I eating this crap, it tastes terrible. The taquitos today were very disappointing as well. But the real point is that I took the power these foods had over me by exercising a choice.

Thanks for all the input guys, just another day in the journey to be fit.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
