Whitney, you'll find a lot of support on this forum. I haven't been banded yet myself. My date is 2/19. Do you know when you will be banded? There is a February 2013 Bandsters group. There are other groups that you might fit in as well. I've learned a lot by interacting with people on the forum that know a lot more about the procedure than I do. Feel free to PM if you'd like.

Whitney welcome. You will find bunches of support here. I'm made some dear friends here.

I would be happy to support you, answer any questions and just be there when you need. I've been banded a year and I'm at goal.

Add me as a friend, read my blog and pm me anytime.

Good luck on your journey.

I felt the same way in the beginning, but I just started interacting here on the forums and feel very differently now. I was banded on January 30 ( less than a week ago) and the few days before and after were very hard for me emotionally. I felt alone, scared, and I don't know anyone personally who has been through this that I could call. Each time I felt that way I logged on here and left feeling better. Everyone here is so supportive and helpful. I feel like I am part of a little community or secret club...lol! Just keep posting and reading and I am sure you will find great comfort here. Feel free to add me as a friend. I am on here quite often and love to talk. Good luck on your journey!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
