I have had my band for about a month now. I know we all have different types of bodies and metabolisms, therefore we all have different outcomes. BUUUUUT, how long did it take some of you guys to see major pounds shed?

Well the average is 1-2 pounds a week so I think that's a reasonable expectation.

Otherwise, there's so many factors. Someone (like me) who starts off with over 200 pounds to lose is going to lose a lot faster in the beginning than someone who only has 80 pounds to lose. Also you have to take lifestyle, food choices, exercise, sex (men lose faster), and medical history into consideration.

With that said, I lost really fast at the beginning. My surgery was Jan. 6 2012 and my first fill was the end of February 2012. I had already lost 44 pounds by my first fill.

Now...it's slowed a lot but I've also lost a lot. I go for my monthly doctor's appointment tomorrow and have only lost 6 pounds since my appointment 4 weeks ago. (which, btw, I'm totally ok with that amount.)

As long as the scale is going down not up, I honestly don't think much else matters.

Results vary. You may be losing inches without visible clothing changes. Remember, some of our clothes stretched with us!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
