Recommended Posts

I am bing banded in feb. I have 100 lbs to lose. I'm nervous and don't know what o expect. There is so much negativity toward the band....

I think the negativity with the band is from the people that don't inform themselves before they receive it or don't have realistic expectations! There are some people that think it's a quick fix or that the band does it for you, which isn't true! I will not lie, it does make it a lot easier. However, like any other weight loss procedure, you can sabotage yourself. It's not a guarantee! If you go in with a positive attitude, you have picked a great surgeon, know that change isn't always easy, and are willing to listen to the rules and follow them, you should be on your way to just another lap band success! Good Luck!

Being nervous before surgery is normal.

Not knowing what to expect is concerning. Take this time to educate yourself about your surgery and how the band works. Look beyond the surgery and learn about how you live with the band so that you know what to expect, how and what to eat, etc etc.

Negativity about the band - again, lack of education. The better educated that you are, the better you can educate those around you about it.

Good luck.

Jm....I am being banded in Feb as well! I am VERY nervous and alot of other crazy emotions as well! But I am VERY WELL educated on what is going to happen and know what to expect, this has made it easy for me to move along in the process of knowing for sure that this is what I want...yes there are so many negative things out there about the band, but as everyone says its lack of education and understanding of what the band really is and what it will "help" you achieve, because its not just going to make everything going away and the weight magically fall off, a lot of work and dedication will go into this process for all of us! I really urge you to learn as much as you can before you the surgery, and also check out the success stories and pictures, it really is inspiring!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
