Attempting to follow diet

Recommended Posts

So I met with my doctor yesterday and I'm just waiting to set up a surgery date, but I'm attempting to follow my phase III diet of two Protein Shakes 1 small snack and 3 oz Protein and veggies for dinner. I'm hungry but it's almost time for Protein Shake number 2! Eek

It helped me a lot to convince myself it wasn't a 'diet' as much as a 'rational voluntary behavior change'......I already had over 40 years of failed 'diets'. A new food menu was far easier for me to adopt....but that may just be my own head game.

Cheers on your journey

Congratulations!!!

How long do you have to be on this diet? Will a preop diet be different?

My advice is Water, water, water!! I drink plain water, water with crystal light flavors, water with propel flavor, water with lemon wedges. This breaks up the every flavor and makes it easier to drink. Plus the drinking more helps with the hunger.

Thank you for all of your support and tips! So far so good!

I actually don't know if I say it's a preop diet.. They just want me to get used to the diet and try Protein Shakes and shrink my liver if possible. I don't have to be on this for any amount of time, it's just me wanting to be more proactive. My insurance does not require a preop diet luckily!

Water also helped me a lot. Cold flavored water and if your allowed sugar free Popsicles and jell-o also to give you a taste of something different. There's really only a few number of ways you can have grilled chicken and veggies but you'll get used to the portions. Good luck. Sounds like your on the right track.

SF hot chocolate makes a good filler as well. I think it is very smart of you to start early getting used to the the routine. Best wishes on the rest of your journey!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
