Salaam Aleikum/Marhaba

I see you were banded in KSA. I was banded in Amman, Jordan. How long have you been banded? I have been banded for about 6 months. I was doing pretty well, until I went to USA for visit in January. I went a little hog wild eating all the things I had been missing. Sure the things are here, but they are sooo expensive. Then DH came back with me, he lives in US, kids and I live in Jordan. He stayed for 2 months. I had to cook the "big lunches" etc... It's been tough. Now, that he has gone back, maybe I can get back on track.

I am very happy to have contact with someone else in the ME that has had this surgery. I feel LOST. I learned everything from message boards, etc... The Dr office hasn't been much help. I get a little jealous when I read about support groups in the US, etc.. I've been basically on my own. I look forward to hearing from you.

Masalaama,

HallaB

Wow Halla! I have been banded for almost 3 weeks. I would be so scared to go back to the States for fear of doing exactly what you did. OMG...REAL pizza! chicken Wings! Gyros (not shawamas)! breyers Icecream (even though they started selling it here a week before I was banded).

I know how you feel about the support. Message boards are my only support. What kind of band do you have? Have you had any fills? Please share with me (us) your band experience.

Halla and Kabeerah, would you please share some recipies, oh please?! I love food, which is one of the reasons I'm fat, but I love recipies too, and love just reading cook books.

Halla, while I was in Idaho, my only support was LBT. I had no access to physical meetings, and I found that being active here on the boards was just as good as a physical meeting for me.

Congrats on your banding Halla

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
