Texas teachers, what do you eat for lunch?

Recommended Posts

I was just moved onto mushies today and I go back to work tomorrow. Does anybody have any ideas on what I can take for lunch for our "so-called" thirty minutes?

I'm ok for this week as I'm still doing full liquids even though I can now eat mushies, but it will get difficult later.

Just looking for ideas.

Audra

Here are some things that I remember eating during that oh so long lunch break.

tuna to go packs--don't eat the crackers

chicken salad

Atkins Protein shakes-vanilla Cream is my favorite

pudding

sugar free Jello

applesauce

cream of chicken and chicken noodle Soups

soft cheese sticks by Precious-I like these better than string cheese

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Kendra

If you teach at a school where they change rooms every so often, keep a Protein Bar in your desk & eat 1 bite every room change. I know it's "snacking", but I'd never be able to get enough inside me in 30 min!

Hi, Audra!

I was banded on 3/13/06. My actual lunch time is about 20 minutes. I haven't told anyone on my campus about my surgery so I have been taking yogurt every day. It's easy to eat and my team just thinks I'm "trying to cut back". I usually have a high Protein Ensure about mid-morning and I keep some South Beach Diet Breakfast bars in my desk in case I don't have time for breakfast at home. I know you can't do the diet bars yet but you will pretty soon. I also do my best to keep a bottle of Water on my overhead desk so I can sip throughout the day.

String cheese is great and good for you, just try to get the low-fat kind. You can also get sugar-free Jello in the to-go cups. The sugar-free puddings are great and slide right down. Don't forget you can always mix sugar free instant breakfast in with your yogart to flavor plain yogart and get extra Protein in your lunch. Applesauce and fruit in luch cup sizes are easy to pack and eat. I teach and the lunch bells ring too soon for me, also. Try not to snack and learn to relax, take a crossword puzzle with you, because you have to put down the fork when you answer the puzzle. Good for the brain and helps slow you down. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't told anyone at work either and I have to really watch it because if I eat too fast I PB and my sudden leave from the lunch table is noticed. I usually just say that something got stuck in my throat. They all think I have reflux, little do they know that the reflux is gone and that I am banded. All of the suggestions mentioned are great just remember to take tiny bites and chew, chew, CHEW!!!!!!

I am a teacher and a closet bandster. I did chicken salad and tuna salad. The Cambell's Soup at hand is super convenient also. I only had mushies for a week so it wasnt that hard to pull off. I just realized that you are past mushies now!!! Oh well, better to reply late than never. Hope you are doing okay and survived all this TAKS madness this week!!!

Okay, I have a problem and wonder if anyone else has this problem and what you did about it. I had my first fill two weeks ago and I am having great difficulties eating "regular" food and not just mushies. Went to the doctor yesterday and he said to stay on full liquids for a couple of days to give my stomach a rest after all of the retching and vomitting I have been experiencing. I have never obsessed so much about food and I do now: "If I eat this, will it stay down. Am I getting enough Protein when I can't handle meat. Etc." My fill wasn't that much (1.4) but I didn't have this much trouble even after my surgery in January. Any suggestions or similar experiences. My doc says to "relax and breathe" which I agree, but still I am having a difficult time knowing what is normal. Thanks, Bonnie

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
