I went a little overboard.....but that's ok.

As always, we spent Christmas Eve at my mother in law's house. I was mentally prepared for all of the food that would be available and I knew she was making chicken breast for me. My intent was to stay within my calorie limit but also have a very small piece of apple pie. Well....for the first time since my banding 7 months ago, I went a little overboard. I ate approximately 1900 calories! dinner was just fine but I had 4 Peanut Butter balls, a vey small piece of apple pie, and a very small piece of cheesecake. It was delicious but I have to admit that I felt sick to my stomach and naseous. lol. Who knew? Although we came home late, I jumped on my exercise bike and rode it for 30 minutes. Sick tummy and all. I had a normal 1200 calorie day on Christmas day and was actually down 1/2 lb. this morning. I teetered a bit but did not fall. It is okay and I'm good! Happy New Year everyone!

I'm with you! This was my first Christmas with the band. I remember looking at my plate and thinking, "wow, last year this would have been stacked with food". But this year I used Portion Control. A little taste if this and a little of that. There was actually space between each item (as opposed to being piled on top of each other) I skipped some stuff (cause I new I could't get it down). Not to say that I maintained my calories since I did have a slice of carmel cake. But I did not overeat to the point that I could move like I used do! I am actually proud of myself!

Happy New year to you too!

First Christmas with the band! I did leave one party after my small plate of food. I did eat Cookies and fudge so I will not be down a pound for SURE but I am to blame!

Glad you aren't dwelling on it. The feeling you had from eating will likely deter you from doing it again (or at least as much). So many people dwell and beat themselves up. Today is a new day and a clean slate. Best wishes to you for continued success.

Christmas day for us was the food day!! My mom fixed an AWESOME Breakfast and then lunch. I ate way more for the day than I should have. However, it was Christmas and the foods I ate we only fix ONCE a year so I don't feel so bad about it. Back to the game now - eat less move more!!!

You did fantastic! You where honest with yourself, you logged your food, you exercised and you got right back on track the next day. This is a journey with lots of hills and valleys. It's okay to go over every once in a while (we all do) and you handled it with full control. Be proud of yourself!

Congratulations, that is a success.

Happy New Year!

It sounds like you did great! Came in with a game plan, did not deprive yourself, but made sure to account for it and get that exercise in! Nothing to beat yourself up for. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
