You're welcome! Mine only had a 4 month wait period though come to think of it. I have Aetna POS. I guess it all depends which company your insurance is through. It will depend on what they contracted with them.

I have Aetna POS and did the 4 month through my center. The office canceled my September appointment and I went October 1 and was told I'd have to start over. The office took the blame because it was documented that I had asked about rescheduling in September but because of the Jewish holidays, there weren't appointments. I had my surgery on 12/26. I was afraid to do anything but maintain a status quo weight-wise so I didn't really try to start losing until I went on the pre-op diet. I was afraid if I lost too much that they'd say I didn't need the surgery.

I remember them saying that if I went more than 31 or 35 days (can't remember the exact number) that I would have to start over and I needed to have my surgery by the end of December or I would have to start over. They gave approval very quickly after the center submitted my stuff so Aetna gave authorization before I was ready. I had to have some gum surgery and I wanted to get that out of the way and heal before undergoing band surgery.

I believe it was less than 2 weeks. It took 10 days or less I think. The approval came back before I was mentally ready for the surgery!

There was a questionnaire I had to fill out for the center doing my surgery and for the psych evaluation and my PCP's office supplied records and I don't even see my PCP that often.

I have Aetna ppo........I've had 2 of the 3 pre op appts so far and don't have a clear sense of what happens next. I'm very close to low end of bmi so unsure if they will give me a hard time etc... Any ideas?

I would let the doctor's office handle it since they deal with this stuff on a daily basis. They should know what they need to submit and if denied, how to go about appealing. That's how they make their money so it's in their best interest to get you approved. If you're really worried, just keep checking in with them and ask what you can do to help.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
