Pain in port site

Recommended Posts

I've been banded since July, which is why I'm concerned about having this pain. My port hasn't bothered me for about 2 months, until now. For the past two days I've been having pain on and off in my right side. It hurts to sleep on that side. This morning I pressed on my port, just to see, and a sharp pain spread through my side. I'm not having trouble eating or keeping food down, just the pain. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I am not sure but I know certain foods will swell up my stomach and I get pain in the port and I am a stomach sleeper also I have heard the more weight u lose that the port site sticks out a little more I was banded in Sept and it comes and goes the pain somedays I can't feel it at all others I can feel it real good I went for my 2nd fill Dec 12th and my Surgeon couldn't find it at first so a little blood came out he hit something else so he rigged it up again second time he made me do a little sit up , however I still have a bruise that finally seems to be going away , usually my Surgeon is pretty good but I will tell him next time I see him , I really do like him cause I can text him at any time , but yes I still get port pain sometimes , not sure if it,s normal but I will ask.

Port pain can recur if you eat a larger than average meal. If it continues, call your doctor to be sure what is going on.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
