I am a little over three months out from Lap Band and I have lost 40 lbs. Just recently I have started to have heartburn. I am not too full or need an unfill because I had one not too long ago from being stressed out. I can eat normal food and don't feel the need to throw up after or have heartburn right after I eat. I don't throw up at all nor do I feel sick. I just have had heartburn the past two nights to three nights. Last night I ate kind of late, which was new to me. Tonight I feel like I have a sore throat--like possibly a sinus and strep coming on. Could this be it? I will call my doctor on Monday and go in on Monday as well to go see him. I don't think this is an emergency and I don't really want them to take all of my Fluid out in the ER. Has anyone had this happen to them? I had horrible heartburn all of the time before surgery and took Zantac on a daily basis. Should I start doing this again? Can anyone tell me their experiences or stories? I don't think it is a slipped band either...because I can eat and drink just fine. I also don't throw up or feel any pain in my stomach. I am SOOOO confused!

Before lapband I suffered for years with an acidic stomach, didn't get heartburn but a constant acidic feeling in my stomach and eating made it worse as of course more acid would be produced to start the digestive process. I took somac then and I still take it today when needed as illness and stress makes mine flare up. Having the lapband has actually improved it for me but yes speak with your doctor and take your Zantac if you need it.

I lived on antacids and Prilosec the first year and a half after banding. I had bad reflux before banding and I tried to back off my meds several times in the early months but was not able to. I would check with your doctor and tell him your symptoms some times there are prescription meds that work better than OTC meds. I don't think your band has slipped unless you have been doing an extreme amount of vomiting or over eating, this is what ususally causes the band to slip. good luck

take your meds not everything is related to the band. Call the doctor of course but mean while take your meds.

Thanks guys, am going to give them a call this afternoon! I know everyone's progress is different, but how many months or years are you out and how much weight have you lost? Have you had an issue with motivation to work out? I was doing so great with my Zumba on the Xbox 6x a week for 30-40 minutes-nonstop cardio but fell off track this past week. I am 3 months and a week out and have lost 40 lbs. Does this seem right on track? I feel down because I cannot seem to keep my motivation up....grrrrr!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
