Gallstone Problems, Anyone Else After Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had my gall bladder removed two months post OP due to the rapid weight loss mine got infected' date=' dialated and I had never had issues prior to my surgery and by that time I was at a 65lb loss Two months out so my bariatric Dr got me in three days after my horrible attack and removed it! The recovery was worse than my lapband surgery but 6 weeks out and I'm finally just feeling normal again!! I wish he would have taken it out during my lapband surgery since this can be an known issue with the rapid weight loss!

Glad you're feeling better![/quote']

My doctor warns of gall bladder issues but won't remove during LB. Something about banding is placement only, GB is cutting something out. Which can lead to infection.

Marketingdude, thanks for your kind words. Randi, glad you're feeling better, I pray I get to that point! Honk you are so right, I wondered the same thing but two different surgeries in there...

Donna, you are not alone this journey, nor are you the only person who has had these problems. It is part of the program. Accept it, don't second guess it and get well soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
