Hi All

I am almost 2 wks post op and returned to work today. Feeling great but really looking forward to an upgrade from just Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes. So what kinds of food is included in the mushy stage. Also I am a big tea drinker, when do we get to put a littel skim milk in and not have it just clear.

Thanks

Bonnie

Week three soft mushies: low fat cottage and ricotta, smooth spaghetti sauce, blended Greek yogurt (fat free milk to thin it out). Week 4 scrambled eggs, canned chicken and tuna, low fat laughing cow.

I was allowed to have milk at day 4, just depends on your doctor. You may want to make sure you tea is Decaf, caffine tends to increase your hungry- I've been dealing with that myself lately.

Soft/Mushy stage: thin creamed potatos (made mine with chicken broth and added a little cheese- YUM), yogurt, SF pudding, thinned oatmeal or grits, mushed up soft cooked green Beans, baiscally anything that is of the yogurt consistancy.

Beware as you enter into this stage people who have seen weight loss tend to see a slight increase. Just stick to your basics and you will be fine. Right now concentrate on healing your body.

Hi, I'm about 3 weeks out from my band.

Just out of curiosity, why are you allowed to have Protein Shakes and not a touch of milk in your tea? Is dairy a no no in the first stage of liquids, but Protein Shakes are ok? I guess i will learn all this when i progress through the process.

Thanks in advance!

HI All

Thanks for all the info...it is so funny how the "eating" stages vary so much from Doc to Doc. My Doc made it very clear, black Decaf tea or coffee. Articfical sweeter was ok. I am not an advocate of artifical sweetner and never use (but I also don't use sugar either). Tomorrow I go to the doc and can't wait to see what I have in store!

Thanks again

Bonnie

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
