2Nd Week Banded

Recommended Posts

Hi Friends! I am on my second week being banded. First week - all clears I lost 14lbs. I started my 2nd week Thursday with the Protein Shakes and blended foods and I haven't lost 1 lb since. Is this normal?? Anyone having the same problem?

Yes very normal. You are healing, the stomach is upset because of a foreign object around it, and your body is trying to store calories for a rainy day. It could stay dormant for 10-15 more days. When you can walk, do your walking as much as you can. SIP your Water not guzzle it. As you get fills and restriction, you will SIp the liquids. Start practicing now.

Best wishes

Sure is normal. First 6 weeks are for healing and not losing. I lost 10lbs my first week post op, and then 3lbs total in the 4 weeks after that, undil my first fill. I have had 2 fills, am not close to restriction so right now the band is not really working for me and I am 'dieting' to make sure I don't gain. Good time to practice, small bites, 1c of food per meal and 1200 calories/day.

Thank you Wildrose! I thought I was drinking too much or too fast or even because I was using milk for the Protein Shakes. I appreciate the response!!

I got discouraged by this too and then I had to think "this is a marathon and not a sprint". So now I am continuing to eat healthy and just waiting for the day when the scale starts to move again. I know that it has to;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
