Help Stomach Feels Like Its In My Throat...

Recommended Posts

So I was banded on Oct 29th was on clear fluids, then full fluids. I started on mushies this week. So they told me to puree for the first part of the week then by thursday make it biggger just mixed not pureed. Since yesterday I noticed this horrible feeling in my throat and its so hard to burp. I did call the clinic and they said make sure I'm eating slow small bites which I am but its all a learning process. Just wondering if anyone else had this feeling. Oh I did have a hernia repair not sure if this is a reason??

You might be eating too much. How much food are you eating at one time.

Hi Colleeb

That feeling means your pouch is full! Stop eating.

I measure a cup but eat less. The feeling doesn't happen when I'm eating its about 20 minutes after.Last night it lasted a few hours

It's not happening during eating its about 15 minutes after and I'm eating until stuffed even when that voice in my head says 1 more bite I'm resisting. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
