Alcohol is fine by my nutritionist and surgeon but of course in moderation.

I am a cheap date since surgery. I can tolerate some white wine. I drink wine if I am having a drink. I did have a nice Amarato on ice a couple weeks back. I am 3 years out, so if you drink, make sure that you are careful of the amounts. My son, who had surgery in Aug 2011, drank for Christmas party last year and got totally blasted on a small amount. Best wishes for the upcoming holidays. Karen

I dont drink. To me it is just empty calories, but I agree it's ok with moderatin

Just be really carefull the first time because it might hit you harder then before.

Vodka and diet cranberry is tolerable and low cal.

Take it slow. It hit me hard the time I tried, but then I have always been a cheap drunk. One glass of wine makes me go woowoo! I decided it was wasted calories that I could use on something better for me

  • 2 weeks later...

I enjoy a glass of wine every night, have since day one. I also have 1 apple martini every Sunday evening, its my weekly treat. I do count the calories. It works for me.

I love a Caesar... Extra spicy or red wine.

How soon after surgery is it safe to have a drink?
