  1. I have no dietary restrictions. I need some breakfast ideas- I’m in a bit of a breakfast rut... Thanks!
  2. I had Lap band revision to VSG on 2/26/18. I decided before the procedure that I wouldn’t weigh after. And I haven’t. The only time I’ve weighed was at my postop visit, where I was down 17 lbs. that was early March. Before surgery, I watched a YouTube video that suggested not to weigh and I thought about all the times I was happy - until I weighed. I read all the posts here panicking about a stall. And I decided the scale wasn’t for me. *HATERS STEP OFF NOW. DO NOT POST A REPLY IF YOU THINK THIS IS STUPID, BECAUSE IM NOT SUGGESTING ANYTHING TO ANYONE.* It’s been really peaceful. I’m down 4-5 sizes, I log all of my food, but I have no idea what I weigh and I’m am SOOOOO okay with that. I’ll be weighed when I go for my next doctors visit, I know....but for now, I’m at peace. I know I’m working what works for me and I’ll do it as long as it does.... Just wanted to throw this out there for others to consider....if it’s not for you, more power to you. Do what works for you. I’m doing the “me plan” and I’m happy and healthy and so not stressed out about my weight right now. Taking it a day at a time.... Hope everyone else is working what works for you and at peace with yourself or well on the way...

This is going to shock you...

Yeah....I used to be so snappy with my kids if the scale didn’t show what I hoped...my WHOLE family paid for it... I don’t need the scale to shame me. I know what I’m eating and this is my life now, not a diet. There is no end. So it feels much more like my life than a diet where I’ll hit a number and FINALLY be happy. Best of luck to all of y’all!! And sampthechamp- let me know how it goes!

    Phase 1

I had 21 day postop liquids...and I’m now in my 2 weeks of puréed. My surgeon is pretty conservative, but I’m all in with that...it’s not great, but what felt great is what got me here.... Just be open and creative and try different things until you find what works. You can do this!!
  5. I'm finally approaching the pureed stage and wondering if the Ninja blender I use for shakes will work for pureeing food... Thoughts? TY!
  6. I was watching a video today that said talk to people about the mistakes they made along their recovery journey - 'you learn more from the mistakes than the success'....so I thought I'd ask, "What mistakes did you make, in your journey to health?" Thanks!
  7. I'm scheduled for one week from today - band conversion to sleeve...I'm finally getting excited... Anyone interested in being sleeve buddies?

anyone schedule for Feb 26? sleeve buddies?

sounds like we are on the road! let us know how your surgery went, DJMC... Are either of you staying overnight? or having the procedure as an outpatient? I'm excited but scared - especially after my band experience...

    tight after vomiting

I was banded 10/12 and have been pretty successful with it. I vomited about 10 days ago - once - and since, have been uncomfortably tight. I'm going to call my doctor today, but what do you guys usually do when this happens? Go back to liquids for a few days? Do the 5 day pouch test? I really don't want to have Fluid removed because I was in the green zone. Also, I have NO reflux or PB, so I really don't think it slipped. Maybe it's just irritated and mad at me? I'm going to try liquids today.. and, yes, I'm going to call my doctor. Thanks in advance! jenymac

    tight at night

I was banded 10/2012. I've lost 31 lbs since. I had my last fill last week, 1/8/13 and think I've finally hit the green zone. However, I've noticed that if I wait too late to eat supper, 8 or 9 p.m., I'm so tight I can't get 1/4 cup down. NO stuck episodes and I can eat fine throughout the day. Anybody else with this? I don't want to have any Fluid removed, cause I'm finally in the green. I can adjust my eating patterns some, just wondered if anybody else was like this... Thanks so much!

    Anyone try not weighing themselves?

I started working with an Eating Disorder therapist very shortly after my surgery. She suggested I not weigh myself because the number really determined my mood for the day. I got rid of the stupid scale. I don't need it to tell me if I'm doing what Im supposed to. It has really made my life easier cause I'm not so tied to the number. I weight at my follow up appts only. I have lost 31 lbs since my surgery in October, so I'm happy. Still learning healthy eating patterns and how to deal with my emotions without stuffing them down with food. Personally, Christmastime around relatives was VERY tough emotionally and I treated that stress with emotion. But - I didn't have the added stress of the scale, which usually makes me spiral ("well, I gained a pound - might as well eat whatever I want"). I think that helped limit the stress. Do what works for you. Don't weigh for a month and see if your day-to-day life is easier. It's not a permanent decision. If you don't like it, start weighing again. Either way, just take care of yourself. That's the bottom line and my goal.

    October 2012 Bandsters

lapband 10/11/12. I'm down 31 lbs. Weight loss has slowed but I had my third fill 2 days ago. Hoping to be in the green zone when the swelling goes down, as I was for a couple of weeks after my previous fill. I have about 7 cc in a 10 cc band. I just started karate 2x/week and I love it. Makes me sweat like crazy. I'm still anxious about long-term success, but I'm trying to take it one day at a time. Good luck, all, and post updates!

    Getting Off Track

Not sure how you want to approach it, but I'm in counseling. I'm an emotional eater and I feed my emotions with carbs. So, I'm learning to recognize my trigger and how to approach them differently. I need a long-term solution to this long-term problem. It's not a switch I can turn off just because I have a lapband and I know from past experience that it's a slippery slope and feeling deprived sets me up for failure. Good luck and you are NOT alone!

    Feeling Down After Surgery!!!

My gas pains, particularly in my shoulder, were MUCH worse than I expected and I've had 4 kids by c-section and a laparoscopic cholecystectomy! They lasted a week or maybe a little more. I had to sleep in a recliner for the first couple of weeks. Bottom line - it WILL get better. Keep up with your liquids as they will help a lot with the hunger. Walking was the only thing that helped me forget the gas pain. I took Gas-X, but I don't really think it helped as the gas was not inside my GI tract, rather inside my peritoneal cavity from the surgery. So I walked....and walked....and walked...and then walked some more.... You CAN do this! Hang in there! You are not alone and many people have walked in your same shoes with great results! Chin up!

    Hopefully My Last Fill....

You look amazing! Like everything in life, the banded journey has its ups and downs but it sounds like you have gotten it all together despite your challenges. Kudos to you and good luck with the last few pounds. You can do it!
  16. My nutritionist is not helpful. She said that she suspects in a few years it will be discovered that low fat foods are responsible for obesity. Wha?????? Anyway, I always heard before that it's important to eat something within an hour of waking to kick-start your metabolism. LB patients are told not to eat when unless you are hungry. Anybody tried both ways to see which worked better? What do you do? Eat a little something whortly after getting up or wait until you are hungrey - which is usually mid-morning for me, depending on when I ate supper. thanks!

    Need Some Insight Please !

I, too, am skeptical of adding a diet fad (hcg) to the band. The band is made to assist you and is long-term. It seems learning to live with the band from the get-go would be best. Either way, good luck to you!

    What To Drink?

okay - I hated ALL of the shakes. The first few sips would be fine, then they'd start tasting funky and make me nauseous. I really struggled for a few days, then I took a few suggestions and tweaked them. This was my fav: 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2-3/4 cup ice cubes 1 scoop unjury Protein 2 tablespoons PB2 small frozen banana 1/4 cup splenda (or more to your taste) Yummmmmm - a really good blender helps on this, too. I went and bought one 40% off at Kohls and keep it on my counter just in case. Hope this helps you! Hang in there!

    The Honest Truth....

Really, I chose him because he doesn't require a lot of follow up, which my job would have precluded anyway. I did expect more from the nutritionist, but maybe she doesn't have a lot of experience. I've devoured books on the subject and know the guidelines. I also have a pretty realistic expectation that I will have to figure out exactly what works for me, i.e. 1000 calories or 1200 calories, eat when I wake up or wait until 10 a.m., exercise like a mad woman or try to keep my life livable....working on these things.... Between the research I've done and my therapy, I feel pretty well equipped. Trying to straighten my head out is the toughest part (eating disorder). It's an exciting process and, like everything else in life, has its ups and downs. Again, I'm in it for the long haul. Thanks for the advice and support!

    The Honest Truth....

met my doc for the first time in the OR (I was already under sedation). Saw him doc at 6 wks. He said, "looks good. see you in a year." off site PA does fills. Nutritionist is worthless. I'm using other sources of information for my journey, including my eating disorder therapist.

    Hungry All The Time:(

I can't stand water either. I drink flavored waters or Fuze, but I RARELY drink water. It took a lot of trying (and help from people here) to find other things I like. I went to a gas station and bought like 10 different drinks but I found something I like (FUZE slenderize), so stick with it. You'll figure it out, too!
