One Year And 50 Pounds Ago....

Recommended Posts

...I began my lap band journey. Even though I've settled into life after lap band, it still seems surreal at times. Getting comfortable in one's own skin is so much more than weightloss. I feel great and love the way I can jump in and out of cars, seats, etc. I never thought I would be able to cross my legs like a lady again, but, I can. And when I squat down, I can easily get back up. Having weightloss surgery is by far the best thing I ever did for myself. I am so glad I got out of my comfort zone and took the leap.

Now, I still have to try hard to stay on track. I am so tempted to eat junk (and sometimes I do) because I can only eat a small amount. I have been known to have a piece of cake for supper. Just being honest yall. I do not like to exercise. But, it is a must. For me, moderation is key in all areas of life after lap band.

Picking out clothes or buying them for that matter is like this game of "will it fit." I just got out my winter clothes and put on a really nice sweater I bought early this year and it just hung on me. I thought, dern, I love this sweater, wish it were smaller. I use to hate jeans. All that squeezing and tugging and misery has turned into "wow, I think I need a belt".

When I was at 208, I thought about my weight constantly. I worried about my clothes spltting if I bent over. I ran from the camera and was embarassed when I saw old friends. I worried about my health. My blood pressure usually ran 135/95. Now, it stays around 110/70.

I know this is lenghty, but, when I changed my ticker and it said 50lbs, I had to tell someone. In my mind, I'm still the same person. The inside hasn't changed. So, to those of you that are beginning your journey, push. You can do this. Love one another and love yourself.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
