Band Slip?

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden I can eat anything! I had this sharp pain on the side of the band but my kids had a virus st that time so I thought it was that. Now I seem to be able to eat a lot more. Could this be a band slip?

It could be. If you had proper restriction and then poof, none, it's possible. But not probable. You would probably have at least one other symptom too (like nausea, reflux, etc). My band slipped about 6 mths ago and the only symptoms I had were severe reflux and the ability to eat more than before.

It's easy to tell if you have one - just takes a quick xray by your dr. If it's a slight one (like mine) they can unfill you either partially or fully, let you rest for a few weeks, then start the refill process again. It's a pain, to lose your restriciton then have to start all over again to get it again, but it's better than having surgery again! Having to be on the 4 week liquid diet scares the heck outa me!

Good luck!

Well, I think typically with a slip (altho I've never had one) you have trouble eating and drinking and keeping anything down. Also a lot of acid reflux. Altho.... like anything else, I'm sure it can be different for everyone.

I've been reading up on this, from the knowledge I've gathered it seems your port may have become disconnected or you have a leak? X

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
