I slipped, too - just got back from dr

Recommended Posts

Well, I've had a rough week. I thought I had a stomach bug - couldn't stop throwing up. Went to my regular dr and he gave me an injection but that didn't help, neither did the liquid stomach emptier, nor anti-nausea supositories. Ugh! So I finally called my band doc and he said to come in right away to have it checked out - and yep, it's a slip.

He took out all my fill and said we'll see over the next day or two how I'm doing. If I can get liquids in they'll leave it and see if it will correct itself - if I keep throwing up I've got to go back in tomorrow or Sunday for surgery on Monday.

I'm so, so sad. Surgery isn't easy for me. I'm a big baby - I don't come out of anesthesia well, nor handle pain well. Oh well, it's better than losing my band altogether.

Thanks for listening - you guys are the best listeners in the world when no one else quite understands.

Oh Shanna,I am so sorry about your slip. I do hope it corrects itself over the next few days. Did your dr. know what caused your slip?

Thanks for all your well-wishes. I appreciate each one.

Roberta,

No. The dr's not sure. Either I had a stomach bug that caused a lot of vomiting then that caused me to slip OR the slip itself caused all the nausea and vomitting. I think it was the latter because I haven't had any other symptoms. Thanks so much for your concern.

Shanna, I'm so sorry! I went through surgery less than two weeks ago to fix a slip. I hope that it will be resolved for you without surgery. Either way, at least we are both fortunate to keep our bands. (((HUGS)))

Fingers crossed that it resolves itself! I'm so sorry; surgery is no picnic any way you look at it. I hope it all works out well for you!

Sorry to hear about the slippage, it's entirely possible though, that now that he has emptied the band it will resolve itself and move back into place. It happens more frequently, the resolution that is, than most of us are aware. I too had a minor slip, and after he removed the Fluid, it went right back into place almost within a few days. The doctor waited for about a month to allow things to settle down and then I had another fill, much more cautiously this time, and have been fine ever since and that was month's ago. My slippage was caused by having kidney stones pass for 3 days and along with that comes really awful vomitting and wretching.

Good thoughts and prayers that all will resolve itself for you right away and that surgery won't be needed. Remember we are here for you no matter what, so you don't have to go through this alone.

Take care and please keep us posted.

Cindy

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
