Hi, I'm new to the band community. This is my second time being approved for the surgery. The first time was in the middle of my divorce and my insurance was up right before surgery and I couldn't afford it on my own. My weight wasn't an issue before, but after five failed pregnancies and a divorce I've gained to the point its causing medical issues. I'm extremely nervous, at 24 I still have a hard time grasping that I'd need this surgery. Any tips on how to prep mentally and physically before surgery?

I'm one week pre op now so don't have a ton of advise but this is also my second time getting this close to doing the band. Last time I jumped through all the hoops & then backed out right before surgery! Going through with it this time though. Good luck. I hope you do well

Just remember its about YOU and your health. YOU come first! Do it for YOU! It's the best decision I ever made in trying to control my weight and making myself healthier. I've always YO-YO on diets and gained it all back. Whatever type of surgery you pick, if you work at losing weight and eating better and proper foods, You will lose weight.

Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Thank you all! A big concern that I have as of right now is the possibility of losing too much weight after surgery. I'm 5'4 and weigh 245, even before the weight problems I was always very curvy. I guess my concern with that is looking unnatural. Are there any tips to not have extra skin and whatnot after losing weight?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
