Mederma is sold OTC at many pharmacies...or you can consult with your dermatologist about topicals which are designed to fade scars.

My dermatologist recommended "Kelocote" or (Cotz for Face), available at many pharmacies and also of all places Amazon. I'm recovering from facial skin cancer surgery...but am waiting until after vacation to search for the last product.

Over time, the scars do fade considerably, even without treatment. I had 5 scars from another abdominal surgery during summer, 2011, and can only still see 1 of the scars.

take regular Vit. E. capsules and with clean hands and clean scar areas pop the vit E capsule and take the liquid in a small medicine cup and rub the vit. E. into your scars. The vit. e is kinda sticky but it helped to fade my scars considerably. My ugally purple scars are now almost faded and not so gristly looking. I did the vit. e. treatment for about six weeks daily after showering.

I'm a very big fan of mederma. I used it after 2 carpel tunnel releases, ankle reconstruction, and for my gall bladder incisions. I wasn't as concerned about the appearance of the scars as the texture. It softens the tissue and makes them more pliable. I've just been banded (10/10) and the new incisions are over some of the old gall bladder ones, so I will probably use it again.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
