First Fills And Weight Loss!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm 6 weeks post-op and haven't had a fill yet! My surgeon thinks my port may be flipped and I see him again in a week to see if I need surgery to fix it!

That being said, I was just wondering how much everyone has lost after there first and second fills! Just trying to stay motivated! I've been

fluctuating for lag

Sorry the iPhone app acts strangely sometimes!

I've been fluctuating + and - 5 for the last 3 weeks and starting to get really discouraged! I think I need to just get my head in the game!

It's important to realize fills don't make you lose weight. Eating healthy, eating smaller portions, and exercising is what makes you lose weight. All fills do is increase the Fluid in your band, and all the band is supposed to do is satiate your hunger with less food for longer periods of time. The band won't physically stop you from eating or make good food choices for you- that is your job to do for yourself.

Good luck with your port. I'll pray it's not flipped but if it is, that you recover quickly and get back to your journey. Best wishes to you.

well, the fills help me eat less each meal. this frist 3 days you get full fast and 1/2 c is like christmas dinner but the swelling goes down and then it is satifing and you have to have a plan to get pass the grazzing. I loss 7 lbs the first few days after surgery (Aug 20) and another 9 in 2 lbs a week since a total of 16 I am happy with that but it is a stuggle to brack bad habbit and get use to healthy foods.

Congrads on your band and hope your port is fine.

Thanks! Yes I think I just feel like I'm at a stand still! Hopefully the port is fine and I can move on!

Best wishes for good news rather than a port flip.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
