Did It Slip???

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery done 3 mths ago. My last fill was 3 weeks ago and I finally noticed restriction. However, the day before yesterday I noticed I could suddenly eat quite a bit more than I had been eating. I thought maybe it was normal for that to happen from time to time but yesterday all day the same thing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner I was able to eat almost as normal as usual before the fill. What could this be? Did it slip? Is it leaking? Is this normal?

just a observation.. you said you could eat more than you could prior. just because we can eat more than we are suppose to does not mean we should. i know for a fact that i could def eat more than i do now but i do eat as though i am at total restriction.

CG is correct we shouldn't eat more just because we can. With that said if you notice that you are getting the same satisfied feeling or that you get hungry quicker than before you likely need a fill. When it gets closer to time for a fill again I notice I get hungrier quicker on my small meals than I did before and when I go in I need a fill. My doctor says that is from losing fat around the stomach- the belt around the stomach has to be tightened.

No, a slip will not allow you to eat more! A slip will cause you to eat less and pb more! Best wishes. Karen

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
