Hi, everyone. This is my very first post on the LBT forum. I do not yet have a date for my surgery but Wednesday it will be 3 months from my initial appointment with my surgeon. I have already done my required appointments, however, my surgeon thinks CIGNA's wait time is going to be 6 months but I read elsewhere it is 3. Does anyone have any experience with CIGNA?

I was just banded had to do 6 months but while doing that they changed to 3 months so whatever you were enrolled in that's what you do didn't have any trouble getting approved

I was banded August 1, when I originally started the process in April I was prepared to do the 6 month, but then they informed me I only had to do 3 months. Good Luck.

Thanks for your replies. I am hoping it turns out to be 3 months because I really want to get this done. AND I have already met all of my deductibles for the year so my out-of-pocket on this won't be too bad either.

From start to finish mine took 10 months! I was required to so the 6 month diet, though, and then got denied for a couple bogus reasons that were easily straightened out. Most of the reason for the wait was my surgeon is very popular and I had to wait for him to have an available surgery date. I think it only took my insurance a couple weeks to get it approved!

I just called Cigna and went to the actual policy on-line:

"Medical management including evidence of active participation within the last 12 months in a weight-management program that is supervised either by a physician or a registered dietician for a minimum of three consecutive months."

This was changed on May 12, 2012. I am just starting the surgery process and wanted to make sure approx. when I'll be able to have my surgery. I am very happy to know that I only have to wait 3 months now. Hope this helps.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
