Wondering If I Want Restriction ??

Recommended Posts

I've had the plication and I am starting to wonder if I will even want to go to my first couple of fills or wait and see if an almost empty band with plication will provide a loss. Those of you that have the plication, did you immediately start to have fills or wait until weight loss slowed ?

I had plication on 6-13-12, down 60 lbs without having a fill and to honest I don't want one right now, my dr says no fills until my weight loss slows down, I do have restrictions..... just meaning I get stuck alot, witch I don't see how with a deflated band, but there is still a band there so i'm scared to death to get a fill at this point!

That's kind of what my Dr said also, yet they will let me have a fill if I want one. I am at week one post op, so of course I have no clue how "full" I'll feel by the time I'm allowed solids, but I have already had such an issue with esophageal spasms that I was actually having trouble drinking on an empty band. I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what "stuck" feels like from that, so fills scare me at this point.

I really really really appreciate your feedback, you confirmed exactly what I was thinking/feeling !!!

I didn't have plication but I also didn't have a fill for the first 2-3 months because I was having restriction with just the band in (no fill @ surgery). I am now -86 pounds since surgery (9 months). Get restriction when you need it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
