I just realized...

Okay, this isn't a lap band story but it's kind of funny. When I went in for my second C-section, this one scheduled, they were prepping me in the OR. I had all these nurses setting up things, and then they came to drape me. I had that circular thing over me below my neck but no drape over it yet. And my spinal had kicked in so I couldn't feel anything below the chest. So the nurses start putting tape on my lower belly, the hangy part at the bottom full of fat that covers the "parts". Well, I hear this big ole zip, zip, zip of the tape being pulled out really long, and they secured the tape from my belly up to that circular bar in front of my face. OMG! They were taping back my fat so the doctor could get to my old C-section scar! I was so horrified! But I said, "Oh, that's what you are gonna do with that...it's been getting in my way, too!" and they cracked up laughing. I was so mortified. The only thing that made me feel better was that they did it with such familiarity, I knew I wasn't the first pregger-woman with hanging, flabby, gross, in-the-way-needs-to-be-taped-back fat down there! Geez.

maybe this will make everyone feel better

i work in a hospital and i have had to take care of obese patients. what we do (if we don't use the air mattress that susan mentioned) is put a slide board under you and 2 people push and the other two pull and honestly it really isn't that bad.

now what is really bad is people not cleaning out their belly buttons before surgery and the OR nurse has to Qtip dig and clean it out and believe me there are some funky things growing in there!! so my tip is don't worry about the heave hoein just make sure your button is clean.:glasses

Oh this is great! I'm glad I didn't think about it before Tuesday though. I didn't get any sedation before going into OR and I had to scoot over to the table myself. I have no idea how they got me into the bed in recovery, but I woke up in the OR after they were done and they were playing some great music....Ray Charles I think. The bed I had in recovery was moved right into the room, so I didn't have to move again. Now I'm laughing thinking about it all.

I didn't think about it before or after, until now. I was on the gurney in the preop room, by the time they turned the first corner I was out, and I woke up in my bed in my room, so I missed it all. I wonder if they have a crane in there, LMAO, doing the visual here, OMG!

I was so proud of myself, too. I thought ahead - got a wax b/c I knew I wouldn't feel up to it after surgery. Shaved what should be shaved. Trimmed what should be trimmed. Never even once thought about some poor nurse having to play tug of war with my fat rolls to get me back on the gurney - not one damn time.

Just proves that no matter how hard you work to prepare, you'll always forget something.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
